I am still working on the first draft of the GUARDIAN TRILOGY book two. With this series music has been a big part in getting me into the minds of my characters. While writing the first book I listened to Samson by Regina Spektor until just the first couple notes of it make me think of Olivia and Holden. With book two the song that is launching me back into their world is Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri. The emotion in her voice and words pull me in and brings my characters to life. Last night I was preparing my lunch for today and it dawned on me what the "theme" song for book three will be, Gravity by Sarah Bareilles.
Also I have started the 30 Day song challenge on Facebook so I figured I would carry it over to the blog as well.

I can honestly say I don't have one song for my book in general. Sometimes I have a single song for a specific scene, but not for the whole thing...
I have scene songs too, but these song really capture the over arcing emotion of the stories so I listen to them before I begin writing. They bring the characters to my mind in such a strong way.
I totally believe in theme songs. I can be totally overwhelmed but the moment I hear one of my book's song.. I'm in the mood to write again. I love that there are somgs that speak to us and our Muses. Jar of Hearts is a powerful song :) For Broken Promises, the theme song is Russian Roulette by Rihanna. I get chills everytime I hear it because it capture the heart of by story perfectly. Great post :)
Kiss with a fist that sounds so fun! Guess I'll be googling a lot more now that I'm following you. I'm not a music guru at all so I'll have a lot to learn!
You have a fabulous blog! I hope you stop by my neck of the woods to say hello!
I love being inspired by a good song. Thank you for sharing yours!
I have songs for characters, songs for scenes, and theme songs for the entire book. Music is such an inspiration for me. I can't wait to see what your other songs will be!
