Weekends at Liz's

One would think weekends would be the perfect time to write. I have all day with no work and nothing but time on my hands. That would be an incorrect assumption. My brain seems to work best Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday I just don't seem to want to even look at my computer. So far this weekend I have babysat for my nephews, gone shopping, gone running, babysat for a different niece and nephew, and now I finally have time when I could be writing or better yet editing and all I really want to do it read a book and go to bed. Hopefully, tomorrow will be more productive.

Make it a goal for yourself to start off your day with writing, especially on weekends. By forming these connections early on, it's easier to jump into your writing later in the day, especially when your time gets sucked up by family and friends. I applaud you for being faithful to your running schedule. With the warming temperatures, I no longer have an excuse not to run.

Yes, I was horrible about running when it was cold out. I hate running inside so I always find excuses not to, but finally it is starting to get nicer out and I have no excuses. Besides it is nice quiet time for me to think about my books and my characters and where they are going or come up with new scenes.

I've also found that the more editing I do, the more I need physical exercise. After I'm done editing a chapter, I'm extremely tight. I need to run in order to relax (by comparison, the running feels easier than the writing).

Evenings work the best for me for writing...probably because I have 2 small children. So I stay up late, and write. They both wake up early, so I'm rarely up before them, but if I am I try to do some then, because that's pretty much my only opportunity. But I understand...the weekends come and it's family time here. Walks or jogging also gets my muses singing...something about getting the blood going, endorphins released, and the mind cleared.

I write best Monday through Friday nut that's because my husband is home. He keeps coming in and yanking me out of the fantasy world I'm living in. I don't care if the house is on fire, I'm writing here! lol OK, so it's usualy sports news I don't really care or World of Warcraft stuff I really don't care about, but that's worse! Fine, I'll give you ten minutes. Go! "Ummmm....." Ack! Is it Monday yet? lmao
