Hollywood Stories Available Now

“A WILD, FUN RIDE THROUGH TINSEL TOWN, PAST AND PRESENT!”  -- JAN WAHL, KCBS AM/FM & KRON-TV

"Hollywood Stories is a piece of history.  It needs to go up in the Smithsonian because nowhere on earth is there a book like this one.  I thoroughly enjoyed it." -- Dorothy Thompson, Book Reviewer at Literally Speaking

At high noon on a cold November day in 1974, sixty-seven-year-old John Wayne faced off with the staff of the Harvard Lampoon on the famous campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The students had issued their challenge by calling the beloved American icon a fraud. Wayne, who had his new movie McQ to promote, responded by saying he would be happy to show his film in the pseudo-intellectual swamps of Harvard Square. After the screening, without writers, the former USC footballer delivered a classic performance. When one smart young man asked where he got his phony toupee, Wayne insisted the hair was real. It wasn't his, but it was real. The appreciative underclassmen loved him and after the Q and A session, they all sat down to dinner. Later Wayne, who was suffering greatly from both gout and the after effects of lung cancer (sadly the Duke only had five years to live), said that day at Harvard was the best time he ever had.

Just when you thought you've heard everything about Hollywood comes a totally original new book -- a special blend of biography, history and lore.

Hollywood Stories is packed with wild, wonderful short tales about famous stars, movies, directors and many others who have been a part of the world's most fascinating, unpredictable industry!

What makes the book unique is that the reader can go to any page and find a completely engaging and illuminating yarn. Sometimes people won't realize that they are reading about The Three Stooges or Popeye the Sailor until they come to the end of the story. A professional tour guide in Hollywood, Stephen Schochet has researched and told thousands of entertaining anecdotes for over twenty years. He is also the author and narrator of two audiobooks Tales of Hollywood and Fascinating Walt Disney. Mark of the Witch by Jessica Gibson

A good writing friend of mine has released her first book, Mark of the Witch. I personally cannot wait to read this book. I have already downloaded my copy. She has graciously allowed me to share a excerpt with you guys today.

Oh, and Jilly, you really shouldn’t be in the habit of meeting strange people at night. I could have been a strangler for all you knew,” he said with a hint of reproach in his voice.

“Oh, I wouldn’t worry too much about me, William; it’s the strangler who should be worried,” Jilly said with a viscous gleam in her eyes while she vigorously rubbed her palms together until they glowed brightly in the moonlight. “Care to shake my hand, Mr. Strangler?” she asked with a laugh as she stuck her hand out to him.

“Ok, I’m game, let’s see what you’ve got up your sleeve,” he said as he grabbed her hand. Almost instantly he was on the ground, writhing in pain. “Well, I will say that tonight I’m glad that I cannot die; that sure packs a punch. I think I could feel my heart stop for a second,” he said, a little winded, as he propped himself up into a sitting position and rubbed his hand.

“Yeah, I figured I’d give you a real show tonight,” she said as she walked away.

He watched her go, still sitting on the ground, and said, “Until tomorrow then,” almost under his breath.

Pick it up on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords!

  • Two shots poured, now where is my handsome human boy toy?
     ·

      • Jack Anderson Ready and waiting, as long as it's Gentleman's Jack ;)

      • Femi Yoo-hoo. Don't make me drink alone, Jackie.

      • Jack Anderson Never!

      • Femi So glad you finally made it. Let's hope you aren't always a gentleman.

Handsome Jack, I have been studying your society by watching television. There is a

lot of disturbing things you people like to do. My question is if you had a theme song,
what would it be? *please say the ATeam, please say the A Team*
        44 minutes ago ·

      • Jack Anderson If being a gentleman is putting others first--I'm ALWAYS a gentleman.
Sorry, A Team wouldn't fly, neither would the one from M.A.S.H. either ;) It'd probably
be either the song from Gunsmoke or The good, The bad and the ugly, but kitten, I'm
         very very good.

      • Femi I like very, very good, but very, very bad can be oh so much fun.

        Second question, lupine, really?

      • Jack Anderson I know about the whole cats and dogs thing, but really that's just
taking it a little bit far ;) What can I say? She's hot. The furry thing never bothers
me because I've always been a dog person. And the fact that she's strong, capable
and could probably kick my ass is a huge turn-on. I hate shrinking violets, which is
probably why I enjoy your company so much.

      • Femi Okay, okay, so you like the wolfie ones. I forgive you because you are quite
the charmer. Can I just say how hot it is that you don't mind that she could kick your
         ass. I love that!

Three, what's the strangest thing about being a human in a paranormal world?

      • Jack Anderson I would have to say the way they seem to handle everything like
they're still in the middle ages. Trials, challenges, fights to the death. I mean, really?
Can't we settle things over a friendly hand of poker and glass of whiskey? I suppose
it's all the primal animal instincts involved.

      • Femi It's tradition too. I mean wouldn't it be easier to celebrate Halloween with
buying your own children candy than to send them panhandling to the neighbors.
There's something to be said for tradition. Plus those wolf challenges are deliciously
         primal.

      • Femi Four, you ride off to women's rescue even when they don't need it. Now
that you understand wolves better will you cut poor Cash some slack?

      • Jack Anderson No. Friggin'. Way. He's trying to get with my best friend and
he's a lupine. If she doesn't know already I'm tracking her ass down and telling
her. She shouldn't be with a guy who hides things; she deserves so much better
than that. Plus, he choked me out and I owe the bastard.

      • Femi He was just protecting her. You should understand that. Shelby can take
care of herself. I hear she has lots of guns. My kind of girl.

Last question and possibly the most important of them all. Think very carefully

before answering this. Which came first, my awesomeness or Sarina’s bad
        reputation?

      • Jack Anderson Yes, she does have lots of guns and I hope she uses them!
And what kind of a thing is that to ask me? That is a moving propeller and I'm
about to walk into it so I'm just gonna steer clear. I will say you are every bit
as awesome as the rumors say and as far as I can tell Sarina's reputation is
well founded. Personally, I prefer ladies rather than ladies of the night.
        3 minutes ago ·  ·  1

      • Femi Ahahahaha It was wonderful chatting with you again, Jack. If I ever
give into Sy we should have a double date.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Anyway back to my post because the click of her fingers on that keyboard spells life and death for me. I’m not only doing this blog post, but I’m also going to do a meet and greet with you people about Cupid Painted Blind. I’m sort of excited to meet the rest of the cast. I mean Dorian Hade *swoon city*. Sarina, I know that siren has some stories to tell. Langston, that mysterious giant can’t avoid my questions forever. Jack, I’ve been looking for a hot, brawny sparring partner. And Autumn has quite the story of her own.

The point is you’re in for a treat. Not only do you have those people to talk to, but you have me. And I have the scoop on everyone in the Abyss. Yes, that’s right. If Liz expects me to do this then she can’t stop me from talking about Liv…or Holden for that matter (though knowing Holden he’ll have something to say about that).

Nevertheless, come hang out. Don’t let me be bored on my day off.
